"In August 2015 I moved to Kyoto together with my wife Catarina.
Japan is the homeland of authors such as Matsuo Basho, Junichiro Tanizaki, Osamu Dazai, Yukio Mishima, Kenji Mizoguchi, Yasujiro Ozu, Akira Kurosawa, Toru Takemitsu, whose works I have been revisiting and rediscovering over the last year.
The 明暗 Meian (light and darkness) series of photographs is a new body of work that I have been composing on japanese history, culture and identity.
Japan gave me back hope and the consciousness of the human condition."
